How To Make An Easy $50 From Your Couch

I’ve shared about how my husband and I are trying to get out of debt, so it’s no question that I’m dedicated to finding new ways to save and earn more money. I did a recent experiment to see if I could easily earn $50 without leaving my couch. Spoiler Alert: I totally did just by spending some time on Swagbucks!
So how did I do it? I spent a little bit of time each evening on Swagbucks. I tried out different activities and completed a few offers. Within a week with little time commitment, I made an easy $50 and transferred it directly to my paypal account.
Here’s the exact breakdown of the activities I did to get to 5000 Swagbucks.
Shop – 866 SB
This was my starting balance from when I made a purchase on Sephora.com last month. You can use “Shop & Earn” to get money back from your online purchases. In this case, I can’t remember how much my Sephora order was, but I got the equivalent of $8.66 back.
If you shop online a lot, you’ll have no problem making money with Swagbucks. They offer you a percentage of your purchase back for a whole bunch of online retailers, including Amazon and Target! They even have deals where you can get an extra percentage back by shopping on certain websites. For example, normally if you book through Hotels.com you’ll get 2% cash back from Swagbucks. Right now they’re having a deal where you can get 10% back!
Swagbucks Local – 100 SB
I downloaded the Swagbucks Local app and got 100 SB just for linking my debit card. Going forward, if I shop at any of the local stores or restaurants on the app, then I’ll automatically get Swagbucks for those purchases. In my area, the options for Local shops are slim. It’s pretty much limited to Jiffy Lube and Value Village. I’m hoping that they add some more shops to my area, but I don’t plan on earning additional SB from it.
Watch Videos – 6 SB
I watched nCrave videos, EntertaiNow videos, and Watch videos. These are all separate things, but you basically just watch a series of short videos to earn Swagbucks. I tried each one and they’re all monotonous and you only earn minimal SB from them. I don’t recommend using this as your primary way to earn Swagbucks.
Bonuses – 21 SB
I got bonus SB throughout the week for completing the daily poll and completing the to do list they give you each day. The daily poll is a quick question that you answer for 1 SB. Your to do list includes things like completely the daily poll, watching nCrave videos, attempting a survey, and more.
Discover: Free Trials – 477 SB
I signed up for websites and free trials to earn Swagbucks. One of these did require that I enter my debit card information and I would have been charged after the free trial. However, I was able to cancel the free trial before they charged my card and still get the Swagbucks for the offer.
They have a lot of offers where you can earn SB for signing up for a free trial, and then additional SB if you complete a paid month. For example, you can sign up for a clothing rental box and get 500 SB when you start the trial and then an additional 5200 SB after you’ve been charged for your second month. If you cancel during the free trial, you’ll still get that 500 SB but you won’t get the additional 5200 SB.
Discover: Monthly Subscriptions – 2000 SB
I signed up for a Dollar Shave Club subscription. It was $5 for the starter kit and it will be $9 each month after, but I can cancel at any time. I normally would not pay for anything in order to get points/money in return. That being said, I tried my husband’s DSC razor and fell in love. They’re so much better than any women’s razor I’ve tried. I figured it was worth it to spend $5 and get the equivalent of $20 in return. After my first refill month, I’ll get another 1500 SB. So total I’ll spend $14 and get the equivalent of $35 in return!
They have a lot of offers where you can earn SB for completing their offers and purchasing things. For example, you can get a discount on a teeth whitening toothpaste, and earn 2000 SB when you purchase it.
Answer – 510 SB
I went through and completed a couple of surveys that they have. Most people say that this is the best way to earn Swagbucks. To make it worth my time, I looked for surveys that were the least amount of time for the most amount of SB. The downside is that I didn’t qualify for very many surveys. All of the Swagbucks that I earned in this category are just from four surveys.
Swago – 756 SB
I played a game called “Swago” which is basically just their version of Bingo. It lasted for the entire week and there were certain challenges you could complete to cross off squares on your board and get spins. You could then use your spins and win entries into sweepstakes and earn additional Swagbucks. At the end of the week, you could cash in your Swago card for SB. The amount of SB you got was determined on the squares you crossed off. They don’t do this all of the time, so you have to wait until they have it going on to earn SB from it.
Referrals – 200 SB
I had my mom create an account and complete one offer to earn Swagbucks. You can refer people and earn 10% of all of the Swagbucks that they earn. The 200 SB are 10% of whatever that one offer was that my mom completed. Additionally, if your referral earns 300 SB by the 1st of the following month, you’ll both get a bonus 300 SB. This means we’ll both get that extra referral SB bonus on April 1st.
Swag Codes – 64 SB
Swagbucks will randomly post codes on their Facebook and Twitter. You can enter them on the Swagbucks website to earn additional SB. If you have the Swagbucks app, it will alert you when a new code is available.
You can redeem your Swagbucks for all sorts of different things. Obviously the most popular is gift cards. One of my favorite things about Swagbucks compared to other earning sites is that you can redeem as little as 300 SB for a $3 gift card. If you want to redeem your Swagbucks for a charitable donation, you can redeem as little as 5 SB. There are so many sites that have a minimum of $10 or higher to redeem any earnings, and I love that Swagbucks isn’t like that! They also have deals on rewards! For example, you would normally need 2500 SB to redeem a $25 gift card. However, right now you can get a $25 eBay gift card for 2200 SB.
If you haven’t tried Swagbucks yet and want to make some quick extra money, I highly recommend you give it a try. Have you already made money using Swagbucks? Share how in the comments!
