I started blogging in late October and had no idea what I was doing! My second month blogging has just ended, and I wanted to share comparisons from my first month. It’s been a strange month because I didn’t stick to my blogging schedule at all. I basically threw my whole schedule out the window. The holidays were so chaotic that I barely added any new posts and I even missed a weekly review email to my subscribers. I also didn’t participate in any blogging Facebook groups. Keeping all of that in mind, I’d still consider month two a success!

Blogging – Month Two

Here’s what my numbers looked like on November 30th:

Blog Posts: 24
Monthly Views: 2,278
Monthly Visitors: 1,543
Newsletter Subscribers: 46
Facebook Followers: 358
Pinterest Followers: 159
Twitter Followers: 261
Instagram Followers: 126

Here’s what my numbers look like now:

Blog Posts: 29 (+5)
Monthly Views: 2,757 (+479)
Monthly Visitors: 2,128 (+585)
Newsletter Subscribers: 175 (+129)
Facebook Followers: 367 (+9)
Pinterest Followers: 179 (+20)
Twitter Followers: 274 (+13)
Instagram Followers: 111 (-15)

You can definitely tell that I focused much more on getting views and subscribers than I did on my social media. I even lost Instagram followers this month. That being said, I can’t be upset because I’m so thrilled about how much my newsletter has grown!! I’ve gotten over 100 new subscribers this month, which is just incredible! I’m also really happy about my increase in individual visitors this month.

I can’t wait to see what my numbers look like next month when I’m back to my schedule and working on getting these numbers up!

Blogging Revenue

Not everyone starts monetizing their blog from day one, but I had no idea what I was doing when I started. Since I had no idea what I was doing, I added affiliate links to my first blog post. I don’t think this was necessarily the wrong way to do it, but I don’t know if it was the right way either.

Here’s what my blog income for November looked like:

Affiliate: $3.80
Ads: $2.77

Total: $6.57

Here’s what my blog income for December looks like:

Affiliate: $4.00 (+$0.20)
Ads: $2.58 (-$0.19)

Total: $6.58 (+$0.01)

I’m choosing to see this as a victory, since any increase is a positive in my book! My affiliate income has increased slightly, but my ad income has decreased slightly. Total, I’m a whole penny over what I made last month!

I just finished an eCourse on affiliate marketing, so I’m really looking forward to implementing some new strategies and seeing if these numbers increase next month!

Blogging Expenses

Here’s what all of my blog expenses in November were:

One year of Bluehost: $118.08
One month of Tailwind: $14.99
Awin Affiliate sign up: $5.00

Total: $138.07

Here are my blog expenses in December:

Affiliate Marketing eCourse: $105.00

Total: $105.00

So far I’ve spent less than $250 on my blog, and I would say that the two major expenses have been completely worth it. If given the chance, I would definitely sign up for Bluehost and the affiliate marketing course again!

My second month blogging was like a whirlwind because of the holidays. I didn’t put the attention that I wanted into it and I didn’t stay on top of my blogging schedule. Despite all of that, I’m so thrilled that my monthly views and visitors increased, and I’m beyond excited that I’ve gotten so many new email subscribers!
